In the world of the military, there are many tasks and a single person alone cannot do all the roles that need to be fulfilled. The responsibilities that leaders and their subordinates have can range from one to one thousand and the importance of the missions or tasks should always be taken seriously. By delegating responsibilities throughout a unit or company of soldiers , tasks get taken care of and the military is ran in a perfect world, smoothly. Delegation is a skill of which we have all heard and I should not take it lightly. It can be used either as an excuse for dumping failure onto the leaders when soldiers do not delegate tasks that seem small, but play a huge roll, or as a dynamic tool for motivating and training your unit to realize their full potential, when all tasks are fulfilled including the small tasks. The following essay I will discuss delegation and how it affects the leaders, subordinates and the military as a whole, as well as the tasks that I should put more thought into.
Webster’s Dictionary defines delegation as “the act of giving control, authority, a job, a duty, etc., to another person”. I had a job/duty to keep track of my second military identification witch I did not mean to lose my phone with the new identification. I could have put more effort into keeping track when I had already lost one a week before hand. My leaders took really good care of me when they found out, one leader gave me a wallet, another leader wants me to get something that I can keep a closer eye on it with, and all my leaders could have let me get an article 15. Luckily my leaders know I do work hard and did not want to make them go through this presses all over again.
